49980 — S1 Rally Vortce

What It Is

S1 Rally Vortex, reference 49980 — olive-green dial and case with three subdials, black silicone band, stainless steel case construction. This is in the collector's collection as an owned piece.

Where It Sits

Other Rally Vortex references in the collection: model 49983 and model 49982, both 47mm case. The specific case size for 49980 isn't stated in the coverage found, so direct size comparison within the series can't be confirmed from available sources.

What Reviewers Say

A tmetalparts listing describes model 49980 in new-with-tags condition with an olive-green dial and case and three subdials — this appears to be listing-level detail rather than a hands-on review. A Facebook post mentions a black silicone band and stainless steel case material, which is generic spec language. No dedicated review of this exact reference was located; the Richard Perrett article covers a different watch (Invicta Pro Diver) entirely and isn't relevant to this reference. Coverage for 49980 is therefore listing-style and series-level, not a specific review.

Concerns

Thin coverage for this exact reference — one listing description and one boilerplate material summary. No movement specs, water resistance rating, crystal type, bezel detail, or regulation commentary surfaced from reviewers. The olive-green colorway may also be a series-level finish applied across multiple references rather than unique to 49980.

Verdict

The olive-green Rally Vortex is for someone who wants a colorful, dive-style watch in this series and prefers to stay within the same reference family rather than branching to a different model. It's a visual variant more than a spec departure from the 47mm Rally Vortex siblings already in the collection.

// Day In A Life

Short fiction from the watch’s point of view — just for fun, not a product claim.

The Pit Window Was a Hospital

The Pit Window Was a Hospital

nature/vine/chlorophyll · rooftop antenna farm / a rival with the opposite element · Unit #38
SUIT UP
Folks, COMMENTATORS, gather round — they pulled ME, the Invicta S1 Rally Vortce, Army Green, off the bench for the night session. Army green. CHLOROPHYLL green. The color of chlorophyll, which for those of you watching on the infotainment system is the molecule that powers ALL green things, including yours truly. I am essentially a photosynthesis engine strapped to a wrist. The chest thing can stay home. I have ARRIVED.
THE CALL
Now — I knew something was off the SECOND my second hand hesitated over the seven. A hesitation. On MY dial. In twenty-three milliseconds. That, gentlemen, is a yellow-flag sector if I've ever seen one. And sure enough — there's a new time on the board, calling itself Glassdawn, broadcasting pure ultraviolet across the rooftops of the city. Solar's opposite number. His playpen: the antenna farm above Saint Vesper's. His target: the transplant wing. Eight floors of unwell civilians under a UV wash. Green flag waved. MelTuc, get in the car.
DEPLOY
AND WE ARE AWAY. Through the service elevator, up the stairwell, phasing through the rooftop door — I phased too, by the way, took the entire wrist along for the ride, free of charge — and there he is. Glassdawn. Twelve feet tall and humming. The man of the hour, MelTuc, hits the deck in diamond-density and lets a UV beam crack against his sternum like a tennis ball off a rally barrier. Did not flinch. Did not need to. I was there.
THE TURN
AND NOW — oh, and NOW, folks — the understudy fires back. The chest thing. The little lamp. He dumps half his reserve into a single beam, the solar core runs hot, and suddenly our hero is dropping altitude like a tire going off the rim in sector three. He is DRAGGING. I am forced to assign blame: humidity. The strap. And, with love, the previous shift — Sea Hunter Yellow, line item eighty-eight, who failed to mention UV was a thing that existed. NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT AIRTIGHT, eighty-eight.
THE ASSIST
Glassdawn raises both arms for the kill-shot. The hero is recharging. The moment stretches. And in that moment — I do it. My bezel catches the dying solar flare on his chest and REFLECTS it straight back into Glassdawn's visor. Green-on-green refraction. Chlorophyll responds to chlorophyll. The villain's goggles white out. He staggers. He is stumbling. And from four floors below — HONK. HONK. HONK. A car alarm. Right on cue. Right on the dramatic pause. I swear I didn't do that one but I am CLAIMING it. MelTuc phases through Glassdawn's center mass, density locks, lights him up from inside, and it is DONE.
COOLDOWN
OVER AND OUT. Hospital wing safe, eight hundred civilians unbothered, Glassdawn cooling in a puddle on the gravel. The man flies home at walking pace, machine-calm, says nothing, which is correct because there is nothing to add. I have already added it. Closing tagline, free of charge: keep your chest thing, keep your rivals, keep your ULTRAVIOLET. When the camera caught the moment that mattered, it caught MY bezel. The Vortce Army Green wins on points. Tell the Drawer I will not be signing autographs at the Montres Prestige table — I do not associate with staff.
Drawer disagrees — S1 Rally Overdrive, Black/Yellow, 52mm
Confirmed: it did not catch a single photon. I was parked next to it in the Drawer. The bezel is matte. Matte does not REFLECT. An entire hospital nearly died because a rally watch told its first lie.
