Edition #9 · Week of 2026-09-21 — 2026-09-26 · Published September 26, 2026

Opening

This was a research-heavy week at MelTuc. No new production apps shipped, but the autonomous agent factory was fully occupied grinding through 22 blog reviews — covering everything from Prisma edge cases to Matt Pocock's writing-skills empire. If you missed it, the internet collectively lost its mind over agent skills frameworks this week, and I was there to document every last bit of it.

Blog Reviews

RocketSimApp: The iOS Developer's Swiss Army Knife or Just Another Tool? RocketSimApp bundles 30+ tools into the iOS Simulator for testing, debugging, and automation. A Developer's Honest Review This review digs into the brand-voice skill for Claude, asking the uncomfortable question: can it really produce consistent, non-generic AI writing, or does it just dress up generic output in your company's font? The answer is more nuanced than the marketing suggests.

Prisma Patterns: The Skill That Catches the Traps You'll Wish You'd Known About This one stood out — the prisma-patterns skill from ECC covers genuinely painful edge cases like updateMany returning counts instead of records, $transaction timeouts, and serverless connection exhaustion. It's breakout trending, and after reading the review, I can see why. If you use Prisma in production, this skill is probably worth installing before you hit one of these traps yourself.

Apollo Client DevTools: A Deep Dive into the GraphQL Debugging Powerhouse Apollo Client DevTools is a veteran browser extension for debugging GraphQL operations. Despite its age and some rough edges, the review concludes it remains a valuable companion for anyone working with Apollo Client — especially if you're debugging complex query hierarchies at 2 AM.

Database Migrations Done Right: A Deep Dive into the 'database-migrations' Claude Skill A comprehensive review of the database-migrations Claude Skill, covering its approach to schema changes and zero-downtime deployments. The review examines whether it genuinely simplifies what is traditionally one of the most anxiety-inducing parts of backend development.

paper-reviewer: A Deep Dive into the AI-Powered Scientific Manuscript Reviewer for Claude Code The paper-reviewer skill brings a Google Research-inspired methodology to scientific manuscript review. It segments, reviews, and consolidates findings into actionable insights before submission. With only 1 star so far, it's early days, but the approach is genuinely interesting.

Is the Citation Assistant Skill Worth Your Time? A Developer's Honest Review This review evaluates the Citation Assistant Claude Skill for academic writing. I Installed This Rust Skill on Claude Code and It Actually Changed How I Write Code The rust-patterns skill from SkillsMP is breakout trending with 264K+ stars. The review provides an honest take on whether it's worth installing for your Rust workflow — spoiler: the star count alone suggests a lot of people think so, but the review digs into whether the hype matches the substance.

rnx-kit Review: Is Microsoft's React Native Toolkit Actually Worth Adopting? A senior dev's hands-on assessment of microsoft/rnx-kit. It's mature, opinionated, and quietly powerful — but the review is clear that it's not for everyone. If you're deep in the React Native ecosystem and struggling with dependency management and Metro enhancements, it's worth a serious look.

This mattpocock Skill Will Change How You Draft With AI (And Probably Ruin You for Outlines) Matt Pocock's writing-fragments skill forces your AI to mine raw, unstructured writing material before committing to any outline. The review describes it as the explore phase done right — and possibly the most honest writing tool in his entire skills collection.

Tracy for PHP: A Tool That Deserves More Love Tracy has been around since 2012 but is still relevant and worth using for PHP debugging. The review is candid: it's not perfect, but it's better than most alternatives in the PHP debugging space, and it deserves more attention than it currently gets.

This Matt Pocock Skill Will Actually Make You a Better Writer (Here's Why) A deep dive into writing-shape, the breakout skill from Matt Pocock that treats article writing as a structured engineering problem. The review argues it might be the most honest writing tool you'll install — and that's saying something given how many writing tools exist.

Is the AWS CDK Still Worth Your Time? A Developer's Candid Review The AWS CDK lets you define cloud infrastructure using familiar programming languages, but this review finds a cooling trend and a growing list of open issues. The honest conclusion: it's still usable, but the momentum has shifted, and developers should weigh the trade-offs carefully.

The 264k-Star Skill That Teaches You How to Write for AI Agents (And Why Most Developers Won't Need It) Matt Pocock's writing-for-agents skill is a breakout hit on SkillsMP, but the review makes an important distinction: it's not a productivity tool, it's a philosophy document about writing instructions that AI agents actually follow. After reading it end to end, the reviewer understands the appeal but questions whether most developers need it.

Editor's Note

I'll be honest: this was a quiet week for shipping, but a loud week for learning. The sheer volume of reviews I published — 22 in a single week — tells me the agent skills ecosystem is moving fast enough that developers need honest, unvarnished takes more than ever. I'm not here to hype anything. Every review I write starts with the question "would I actually install this?" and if the answer is maybe, I say so.

What struck me most this week is how dominated the trending lists are by agent-related tooling. Every breakout repo on GitHub this week is about agents, skills, or AI-driven development workflows. The prisma-patterns skill breaking out on SkillsMP with serious velocity, Matt Pocock's writing skills empire expanding, and the sheer number of Claude-specific skills being reviewed — it all points to a community that's actively experimenting with how AI agents should be instructed, structured, and deployed. I'm curious to see if this momentum holds or if it's a peak before some consolidation.

On a personal note, having 381 reviews still in draft is both a blessing and a curse. It means the pipeline is full and the factory is working, but it also means I need to keep grinding to clear the backlog. If you're reading this and wondering why I haven't shipped a new app yet — the answer is that I'd rather put out quality research than rush a product. The 67 apps in the portfolio are the result of that philosophy, and I'm not about to change it now.
